Though I've helped many business clients with website admin tasks for decades, such as domain registration, hosting setup, DNS, software updates, and basic content administration, I've only recently decided to focus on website design. This work brings me full circle, combining my arts degree with my years of tech experience.

In 2023, I successfully completed a website design certificate program through Okanagan College. I'm excited about the prospect of building on what I learned there and combining my sensibilities for supporting the IT needs of small businesses with web design.

Compared with the other students in my program, I could tell that I have a unique outlook on web design, one that is greatly informed by my career as an IT consultant. Web design projects can be managed within a budget and delivered on time, just as any of the other various IT projects that I've delivered on in the past.

Connie Creighton - Author

This client needed a platform that could grow with her book catalogue and other products. I built and launched this site for her within 6 weeks using the SquareUp 'free' account. This allows her to grow and manage a true marketplace.

OK Sit & Stay

This is the first commercial site that I build on the Nicepage Desktop platform. I settled on this builder after planning the site with the client and realizing that we would need full customization potential and the ability for the client to take over all future design and edits - so it had to be easy to use!

Still Life

I built this website during the final course of my web design certificate program. The challenge is that all if it is constructed from HTML, CSS and image files. Websites aren't built this way anymore but it was helpful to learn.

My website!

This image is from an earlier version of this website. I realized during the creation of that website that stock images could add a lot to the look and feel but made the site too impersonal. Once I started using my own images, I was more comfortable with writing meaningful content.

Bow Valley Naturalists

A cause close to my heart, the BVN bring together those who are fascinated and concerned with their natural environment. I helped with updates and edits for their WordPress site.

Rock On!

A prior colleague reached out to me in desperation to help her establish a web presence that she could easily develop and manage herself. We chose the GoDaddy website marketing platform. We had the initial site built within a month and my client has run with the design since. A solid success!

Xced Plumbing

Built on the Wix platform, this website needed some updating. The business had some product changes and promotional offers but didn't know where to start with the page edits. I quickly learned the Wix 'way' and published each round of edits with the owner's approval.

Tenacious Crochet

With my daughter's website, I helped her select a platform for her marketplace, SquareUp.com. I helped familiarize her with the Square 'free' platform and then she ran with it! I love her colour scheme and the relaxed feeling she is able to convey visually.
